Montao Drops 15-Track Deluxe Edition Filled With Elite Collaborators

 

Montao steps further into his universe with the release of Echoes of the Cosmos Deluxe Edition, an immersive expansion of his genre-blending debut. The project moves through Hip Hop, Trip Hop, cinematic soundscapes, ambient lo-fi, electronica, and touches of classical music. The new version runs more than fifteen tracks and brings together an impressive roster of collaborators that includes Slug of Atmosphere, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Sa-Roc, Bronze Nazareth, Napoleon Da Legend, Koncept, Copywrite, RoQy TyRaiD, Lane Shuler, and River Nelson.

A lifelong musician and multi-instrumentalist, Montao has spent more than three decades performing across a wide range of environments. His experience spans orchestras, jazz groups, funk bands, and the mid-2000s indie rock outfit elmor. When the world shut down during lockdown, he turned that period of isolation into a catalyst for his next chapter. The name Montao blends the French word for my with the Chinese concept of Tao, meaning way. It reflects his intention to create music entirely on his own path.

With thirty-five years of musical study and performance behind him, Montao used the unexpected downtime to explore dormant ideas and finally bring them to life. Echoes of the Cosmos represents the culmination of that journey, offering a rare fusion of styles and influences that shift with each track. The album moves like a cinematic experience, with every song painting a new landscape or emotional scene.

The Deluxe Edition arrives alongside a new line of merchandise available at Montao’s official site. Speaking on the project, Montao shared that the album is a complete reflection of who he is as an artist and a person. “When looking back at what I have created to this point, it truly encapsulates me. I have not tried to make anything for the sake of it. Everything came naturally from my love of music, from the genres I grew up obsessing over and learning. My lifelong love for movies has also shaped my creativity and you can hear that throughout the album. This is my first journey of many to come.”
