Lipphead Return With A GOOD FUN on Def Pressé, Led by New Single “The Long Way”

Blockhead and Eliot Lipp are back as Lipphead with a new album, A GOOD FUN, and its first single, the title track “The Long Way.” The project marks the NYC duo’s third official full-length release, following two earlier albums issued through Detroit’s Young Heavy Soul label.
This will be Lipphead’s first album released with Def Pressé, though Blockhead has worked with the label before. The announcement points listeners to Luminous Rubble as a previous Blockhead release on Def Pressé, positioning the new record as a continuation of that relationship while introducing the duo to the label’s catalog.
Musically, Lipphead has long occupied a middle ground between Blockhead’s sample-based, groove-driven instrumental hip-hop and Eliot Lipp’s upbeat electronic funk. The new album is described as a “good fun” record, leaning into lighter, feel-good energy rather than darker moods. That approach carries into “The Long Way,” which is framed as a vibe-forward track pulling from disco, funk, lighter jazz, and hip-hop.
The duo has performed live at select festivals across North America, and touring is central to this release. Lipphead is booked for a 17-date U.S. run beginning immediately after the album’s release on April 3. European and UK festival appearances are also confirmed for the summer, with additional details expected to be announced.
Both artists bring deep catalogs and distinct histories to the collaboration. Tony Simon, better known as Blockhead, is an internationally recognized NYC producer who has released 15 albums over the past 15 years, including four records for Ninja Tune. He is also known for production work with artists including Aesop Rock, and in recent years has released music through outlets such as Future Archive Recordings and Backwoodz Studios.
Eliot Lipp, an electronic musician based in Brooklyn, first gained wider attention after Scott Herren of Prefuse 73 heard him working the club circuit. In 2004, Lipp released his debut studio album, S/T, through Eastern Developments Music, a label owned by Warp Records. He has since released music through Pretty Lights Music as well as his own imprint, Old Tacoma Records.

In discussing how A GOOD FUN came together, Blockhead described a back-and-forth workflow that emphasizes building on each other’s ideas.
“Our process for this album was very much "Take this, and add to it" . We both made beats and sent them to the other to add things to. Eliot would generally start the arrangement process and then I'd come in and give my two cents. Gotta say, these Lipphead albums generally come together seamlessly . We definitely have a simple flow and method as to how we create things together, even though the "together" part comes at the end.” - Blockhead
Eliot Lipp added that the new album leans into humor and internet-era texture, while also hinting at additional music that did not make the final tracklist.
“This is definitely the goofiest record so far. I imagine Lipphead did a little too much doomscrolling between ‘From The Back’ and this one, based on all the meme samples sprinkled throughout.
One difference this time around was that we made way more music than what ended up coming out. It was tough to figure out how to fit it all on one LP, we’ll definitely have some leftovers to drop later on.” - Eliot Lipp
With A GOOD FUN and “The Long Way,” Lipphead appear to be leaning into a lighter, groove-first direction that fits both their production strengths and their live ambitions for 2026.
